Tracy Marrow was born on February 16, 1958 in Newark, New Jersey. After his parents died while Tracy was still young, he was relocated to Los Angeles. His escape from a life of prostitues and gangs was his enrollment in the US Army. Borrowing the T from Tracy, He conjured the name Ice-T and known as such he has made a name for himself in the music and film industries. His career as a pimp is not to be forgotten, either.

Ice-T start in music was in 1984 when Breakin approached him as a rapper. He pioneered the genre along with Kid Frost and Egyptian Lover. Ice-T has collaborated with Power and with Rhyme Pays, among others. His Rhyme Syndicate Records has released tens of original and influential recordings. He also pioneered the rap-metal genre when he played at Lollapalooza alongside Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction. Ice-T has even opened for Guns N' Roses and Metallica.

The groundbreaking 1991 film New Jack City starred Ice-T as both a main character and as the soundtrack. That same year, his metal band Body Count released Cop Killer. This album was probably the most controversial album ever released to date. Ice-T also helped promote many new artists on his released, including DJ Evil E and Grip on his Home Invasion album. In 1999 Ice-T toured with Blink 182, Royal Crown Revenue, and others on the Warped Tour. He also pioneered the internet prerelease of albums with 7th Deadly Sin, which was released on MP3.com as the official distribution channel. The single Don't Hate The Playa was an immediate success.

In addition to starring roles in films such as New Jack City, Ricochet, Johnny Mnemonic, and Trespass, Ice-T is involved in the production of television shows and their movie adaptations. Examples of these include Law and Order, Players, New York Undercover, and Exiled. The movie Colors featured an Ice-T single as well.
