McIntyre, Joey BiographyBiography of McIntyre, Joey. Detailed McIntyre, Joey profile and review. Joseph Mulrey McIntyre was born in Needham, Massachusetts on December 31, 1972. Joe McIntyre is best known as the youngest member of the 80's super group New Kids on the Block. Joe was born in Massachusetts, the youngest of nine children in an Irish Catholic family. As a child, Joe was heavily involved in acting and singing in school, church and community theater plays such as Oliver! and The Music Man. He is also know as Joey McIntyre, or Joseph McIntyre.
Just before his 13th birthday, Joe McIntyre joined New Kids on the Block. He replaced Jamie Kelly. Since the other four members of the group were already long time school friends, Joe at first had a hard time blending into the group. Of course, the others accepted him quickly. They became one of the most successful boy bands to date. They were the most profitable boy band in history. After a ten year run together, New Kids on the Block disbanded in 1994. After the break-up of New kids, Joe began to seek a record deal. He busied himself with song writing and filmed a movie "The Fantasticks'. The film also starred veteran actor Joel Grey. Joe even recorded the signature song for the film, "Try to Remember".

Disenchanted and unable to find a recording contract, Joe took matters into his own hands. Using his own money, Joe recorded his debut solo CD "Stay the Same" and sold it on his own website. Joe took his debut single to local Boston DJ's. The song began to receive local and then national air-play. Due to the interest in Joe's song "Stay the Same', Joe received a recording contract from Sony Music USA. "Stay the Same" was re-released on the Sony Works label with an extra track "I Love You Came Too Late" which became Joe's second hit off of the CD. Ironically, Sony was home to the New Kids on the Block Columbia label.
Also in 1999, Joe recorded a track for the film "Southie" which starred former band mate Donnie Wahlberg. The song was entitled "Remember Me" In 2001, Joe returned with his second solo CD "Meet Joe Mac". The CD produced the hit single "Rain". Joe returned to acting, appearing for a season on the popular television show "Boston Public". Joe later released a live acoustic album "One Too Many". In 2004, he released his fourth solo album "809", which was largely influenced by his future wife. In 2004, Joe made another movie, "Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding' which co-starred Mila Kunis. Joe is appearing in the Broadway play "Wicked" and he is also competing on a reality television show "Dancing with the Stars".

Joe shares the same birthday as his sister Carol, who is also his godmother. His sister Judith McIntyre is an actress. Joe attended Catholic schools as a child. His mother wanted him to become a priest. Joe McIntyre and his wife were married in an interfaith ceremony at New York City's Plaza Hotel on August 9, 2003. This was presided over by a rabbi and a Roman Catholic priest. Joey McIntyre is a huge Frank Sinatra fan. Joe's father owns a purple house. One of his friends opened a pizzeria in Boston and named it Jose McIntyre's. Danny Wood and Donnie Wahlberg, Joe's former New Kids on the Block bandmates, produced a few songs on Joe's debut solo CD. His nickname is "Joe Mac", which was included in the title of his second solo CD. The title of his fourth solo CD, "809", refers to the date he met his future wife (who works in real estate) in 2002. It is also the street address of the house she found for him, which is where he wrote the "809" album. The 809 date is also inscribed on Joey's wedding band.
